Nancy Ray: Bio

October 2005: It was only 5 years ago that Nancy Ray, usually known as a housewife and mother of four, picked up her dusty 30 year-old, Epiphone acoustic guitar and enveloped the music of her celtic roots.

An instant love affair began!

She credits her initial "spark" to the music of Schooner Fare, a well-known, New England trio who were popular during her youth while growing up in Portland, Maine.

Now living in northwestern Maine, she plays professionally in the Mount Washington Valley area of Maine & New Hampshire. But is also known to travel & perform throughout New England and annually in Ireland. Her repetoire of mostly female Irish ballads reflect the styles of Mary Black, Kate Rusby, Cathie Ryan & Nanci Griffith.

From the whimsical ditty to the tragic love ballad - each song that Nancy performs is uniquely expressed with a conviction of the celtic heart.
